TIDBITS ABOUT JULIE
With 10+ years as a visual communicator, I excel at bringing information and imagery together to convey the personalities of people, places and organizations. My design and editorial background can help you portray event information, data sets and identities in compelling and memorable ways.
Way back in college, when I couldn't figure out what I wanted to do with my life, a friend suggested I apply for a reporter position at the independent student newspaper. I graduated in 2006 from the University of Cincinnati with a Bachelor's in Journalism and a minor in French.
On copy desks, honing finely crafted stories and laying out newspaper pages, I learned about the intimate dance between words and visuals. As a book editor, the long-form project yielded a new form of satisfaction, with books to put on my shelves. Then creativity branched out to crafting experiences for parties, murals for encouragement and invitations for life events.
Life has lead me to reside in Houston, Texas.
GOOD STUFF HERE

This Invitation Suite was created at the behest of a lovely hostess for her dear friend. The baby shower itself had a French theme, so I combined elements that suggested the dreamy gentleness of the countryside with beautiful typography.
The suite is rounded out with a Thank You Card that follows the theme.

NORWESCAP needed a large infographic that gave an accurate impression of the complexities of poverty to its audience. This 11" x 14" printed infographic could be customized before printing to allow for targeted information.
We later collaborated on a large convention floor sign using the same elements and information.

This Academic Journal, celebrating 20 years of publication, featured essays, interviews and critiques on a range of topics in both English and German. The editors wanted an updated look with a more sophisticated feel . I designed an interior that encompassed the needs of a dual language publication, keeping with a decidedly "German" aesthetic.

After helping children learn and grow for 20 years, the staff at Kolbe Kids' decided to do some growing themselves. We collaborated to give them a logo that encompassed their teaching abilities, spiritual foundation and love of caring for kids. The hand-illustrated butterfly represents all they want to convey to their students, parents and the community at large.

One of the best parts of being "a creative" is people come to you for some off the wall stuff. Or, in this case, on the wall. Ashley wanted an off-registry gift for a bride-to-be, and asked me to create a painting using her friend's signature phrase, "Baking is my love language." I created a custom mandala featuring baking objects and treats. The final piece was printed on a 32" x 24" canvas and framed. It now hangs in the newlyweds' kitchen.

This project was a true labor of love! The children's halls a Christ Community Church in Houston needed some personality. The desire to communicate the attributes of God lead to a collaboration with Casey, of These & Those Designs, and Christy, consummate interior designer and detail painter. The text, signs and swirls give the hallways some much needed color and warmth.
